PETER FINNIGAN ARCHITECTS

This is a remodelling of a traditional farmhouse and steading located in Quoyloo, Orkney. The brief was to incorporate modern living spaces within the existing fabric, taking advantage of spectacular views framed by modest windows.

The use of traditional details and materials embrace the surrounding countryside. Architectural features such as stone skews and a subtle mix of coloured roof tiles mean that this house remains true to it’s past.

Inside, original exposed stone walls and flagstone floors, together with smooth white walls combine to great effect.

The result is wonderful old house reborn as a comfortable, modern home.
